Sarah interviews Kevin Harrington about his personal experience using fast as a way to heal and as a by-product, lose weight. Intermittent fasting has been clinically shown to reduce inflammation and heal the body in multiple ways.
To sum it up, you eat your two main meals in the afternoon and evening (1-3pm and 5-8 pm). These meals should be 3/4 of your plate veggies, 1/4 of your plate meat, fish, poultry.
The only thing you can have for breakfast is black coffee, herbal tea or water with lemon.
There are 5 mistakes that folks commonly make when doing intermittent fasting. Here they are:
- They don’t drink enough water. DRINK LOTS OF WATER.. Your body is getting rid of lots of toxins that have been stored in fat cells as well as just, in general, cleaning house. Water is your main vehicle for helping to flush all these toxins out. Drink, and then drink!
- NO creamers in your coffee or tea. You can start the day with a cup of black coffee or herbal tea. Nothing added, no sweetener or creamer. If you put anything in it, it will break the fast.
- Not eating enough good food. The 2 meals you are eating each day need to be made up of all organic veggies, pasture raised, organic meats and eggs. Lots of steamed greens at each meal is vital. Huge salads are fine, as well.
- Mineral balance is important. Because of the detoxing your body goes through, take a gallon jug of water, add 1/4-1/2 tsp sea salt and shake. This will help keep your electrolytes in good shape.
No branch chain amino acids added to anything. No protein powders, no smoothies. Just good, simple food.
